Model 247b Hotstick Line Sniffer
Portable Fault Detectors for Substation and OH Line Assets
The Model 247-B Hotstick Line Sniffer™ is designed to pinpoint gap-type discharges, such as sparking, that often are the cause of power line TV and radio interference. The Model 247-B has both RF and ultrasonic detectors.
The Line Sniffer locates the general area of the disturbance on the pole with the RF rod antenna, it then pinpoints the exact location of the noise source by ultrasonic sniffing.
The Line Sniffer also gives the line crew a convenient means for checking the effectiveness of work done on a pole or structure to assure that the interference has been eliminated. The presence of discharges is indicated by sound which is broadcast by the sounding horn (megaphone).
Hotstick attachment to the instrument is made with the universal adapter. The unit is completely self-contained, with no headsets, booster amplifiers, battery packs or plug-in coils required. Simple to use.
