50FD Version C Fault Detector
DETECTS:
Transformer defects including: synchronous and non-synchronous partial discharge, loose parts, defective tap changers, flow restriction, turbulent flow in oil cooling pumps and high vibration levels.
ALSO DETECTS:
Air, Steam, Gas and Vacuum Leaks, Valve Leaks, Faulty Steam Traps, Worn or Dry Bearings, Tube Leaks inside Power & Recovery Boilers.
Analyze substation transformers for defects to avoid potentially dangerous conditions caused by partial discharge. Listen for the mechanical noises produced by loose parts and the destructive arching in tap changers. Monitor the oil cooling pumps for laminar flow, turbulent flow and flow restriction. Set up a predictive maintenance schedule to periodically test transformers to prevent costly maintenance and maintain safe operating conditions.
For professional Service, Information and Predictive Maintenance solutions for Substation, Switchyard and Power Plant equipment.

How it Works
• Internal filters provide sensitivity to acoustic activity in the sonic & ultrasonic bands
• Dual band technique provides ability to listen to low-level activity with a headset
• Measures activity including arcing events and partial discharge on a graphics display
Synchronize Capability
• Can be synchronized from a local AC power source
• Displays the angular location of events within 10degees of arc on a 50 OR 60Hz power cycle
• Angular location helps determine the type and severity of the defect
Spectrum Analyzer
• An onboard Spectrum Analyzer & Waveform Monitor to capture the wave shape and frequency content of an event
• In the sonic mode the Spectrum Analyzer Displays the vibration spectrum in velocity (inches/sec)
Faults
• The acoustic & vibration measurements, coupled with measured levels of combustible gases in oil, provide early warnings and the extent of internal faults
Also detects
• Air, steam, gas and vacuum leaks, valve leaks, faulty steam traps, worn or dry bearings, tube leaks inside power & recovery boilers
