BAC – Binary Coded Decimal BCD to Analog Converter
Several techniques can be used for OLTC position remote transmission and measuring. One of them is to use a digital signal encoded in the BCD (binary- coded decimal) format, usually generated from dry contacts connected to a diode matrix in the OLTC activating mechanism.
The BCD / Analog Converter from Treetech performs the conversion of the tap position information format BCD8421 into a potentiometric signal, compatible with equipment that measure position through resistance, such as, for example, the SPS (Parallelism Supervisor) or the PI (Position Indicator).
The BAC is suitable for installation on 35mm DIN rail, due to its compact size.
BAC digital inputs receive the OLTC position signal in the BCD8421 format, 6 bits total (4 for unit place and 2 for tenths place), which facilitates measuring from 1 to 39.
BAC position indication output makes a resistance signal available that varies linearly with the OLTC position, operating like a 460ohm total resistance potentiometer.
